Compartment comes with a setback for students but there is a chance to appear for that subject again in the same year in July 2018 . So instead of worrying about it, one should get prepare for the compartment exam and qualify as a pass candidate. Here we will discuss all the important points regarding Compartment Examination. Compartment Examination and procedures to apply
- A candidate placed in Compartment Examination may reappear at the compartmental examination to be held in July the same year, may avail herself of second chance in March/April and third chance in July of next year. The candidate will be declared ‘PASS’ provided he/she qualifies the compartmental subjects in which she had failed. Syllabi and Courses shall be the same as applicable for the candidates of full subjects appearing at the examination in the year concerned.
- A candidate who fails to appear or fails at one or all the chances of compartment examination shall be treated to have failed in the examination and shall be required to reappear in all the subjects at the subsequent annual examination of the Board as per syllabi and courses laid down for the examination concerned in order to pass the examination. The candidates’ practical marks/internal assessment marks obtained in the Main examination will be carried over till the third chance compartmental examination.
The candidate shall have the option to appear at the practical examination in the subjects involving practical or retain their previous marks in one more annual examination after the third chance compartment. - A candidate placed in compartment shall be allowed to appear at the subsequent three chances of Compartment only in those subjects in which he/she has been placed in compartment.
- The CBSE will conduct examination for all 5 subjects while other subjects which will be assessed internally by the Schools.
- A student will be given one paper each carrying 100 marks for 3 hours. However, in subjects requiring practical examination, there will be a theory paper and a practical examination as required in the syllabi and courses.
- For subjects involving practical work, in case the candidate has passed in practical at the main examination he/she shall appear only in theory part and previous practical marks will be carried forward and accounted for.
In case a candidate has not qualified/failed in practical/internal assessment she shall have to appear in theory and practical/internal assessment both irrespective of the fact that he/she has already qualified/cleared the theory examination.

CBSE Compartment Exam 2018 for Class 10 & 12
A candidate who has failed at the Senior School Certificate Examination in the first attempt shall be required to re-appear in all the subjects at the subsequent annual examination of the Board. He/she shall appear only in theory part and her previous practical marks will be carried forward and accounted for if she has passed in practical. In case a candidate has failed in practical she shall have to appear in theory and practical both. If he/she fails to pass the examination in two consecutive years, after the first attempt, he/she shall have to reappear in all the subjects including practical.

Hey sir,…i failed in my maths cbse 12th exam last year (2017)….then i wrote a compartment exam which was conduted after 2-e months….but unfortunately i failed again….now i am going to write maths compartment in 2018 march….so if i get passed this time..in the 12th certificate will the my certificate be for 2016-2017academic year or 2017-2018….pls tell me the details about the cerificate…i want to register for entrance so should i give that i finished my 12th or give it as appearing for exam option…pls reply sir

I am pooja Gupta my question is that I got 73% marks in class 12 ,but I am not satisfy with it. Is any ppossibility to fill a form of compartment if a I am pass in all subjects .it is just to improve number and to get a improved mark sheet in the same year. Tell me that is possible or not.

Sir, my ward has been passed 12th with PCB and additional subject was Music in 2016, but in Physics she got 36 (in practical 30 and theory 06) hence the physics was additional subject and she was declared passed with 80% marks. Unfortunately we have no idea to again appear in same year in compartment exam. In year 2018 she qualified in NEET exam and at the time of counceling they have refused to take admission in MBBS hence my ward has applied in 2019 CBSE exam from Bhubneshwar Region but unfortunately that time she was suffering from high fever so theory paper in Physics she got only 11 number but in practical she got 20 number. Again she appear in NTA and after verifying the answer she will got a good marks. hence you are requested to kindly consider his candidature ship in ensuing compartment exam in July 2019 so that her career path not be blocked
